Via Ferrata Climbing for Children

Scale the heights on Sattelberg mountain

Via ferrata are climbing routes with steel footholds and handholds as well as a steel rope anchored into the rockface. This combination of outdoor adventure and maximum safety make them a great way to introduce children to the pleasures of rock climbing. On Sattelberg mountain there is even a special via ferrata named "Kali" which has been designed with the needs of children in mind.

Skills children will learn include abseiling, the correct climbing technique and how to stay safe.

The route starts at the "Ramsauer Getreidemühle" mill and leads up to the top of Sattelberg mountain. The more difficult sections (rated C/D on the Austrian via ferrata scale) can be easily avoided. Upon arrival at the top of the mountain, climbers are rewarded with fantastic views.

The descent leads along the nature and environment learning trail with its many interesting information stations about the local flora and fauna.

Tip! The Sattelberghütte hut is located next to the children's via ferrata and is a great place for families to relax before or after the climb.
